My client is seeking an experienced and compassionate Weekend Healthcare Assistant who is responsible for Activity Coordination to the residents.
This position is part time and the hours will be 9.30am - 4pm Saturday and Sunday 8am - 5pm
This is a permanent position with full benefits with an outstanding home with one of the best reputations in Torbay.
The successful candidate will plan, organise, and deliver engaging activities that enhance the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of patients or residents. You will play a key role in improving quality of life by promoting participation, independence, and inclusion.
Job description:
- Plan and deliver a varied programme of activities (e.g., arts and crafts, music, exercise, games, social events)
- Assess individual needs, interests, and abilities to tailor activities
- Encourage participation and support individuals during activities
- Work with healthcare staff to ensure activities are safe and appropriate
- Organise group and one-to-one sessions
- Maintain activity schedules and records of participation
- Source materials and manage activity resources within budget
- Support special events, celebrations, and outings
- Promote social interaction and emotional wellbeing
- Ensure all activities comply with health & safety and safeguarding policies
Person specifications:
- Previous experience in a care, support, or activity-based role (preferred)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Creative, energetic, and patient-focused approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of health and social care environments
Skills and Experience:
- Qualification in Health & Social Care, Recreation, or similar field
- Experience working with elderly individuals, dementia care, or disabilities
- Knowledge of person-centred care approaches
- First aid or basic life support training
