Credit Controller / Sales Ledger Administrator

Based in Torquay

Are you a numbers whizz with an eye for detail and a proactive approach? We're on the lookout for a dedicated Credit Controller/Sales Ledger Administrator to join our team.

In this role, you'll be keeping the figures in line and the cash flowing - reconciling daily sales, posting receipts, maintaining customer accounts, and assessing credit limits. You'll make sure payments come in on time, minimise bad debts, and liaise with debt collection agencies when needed.

Job requirements

  • ▪ • Proven experience in credit control or an administrative role, preferably in a finance-related setting • Strong attention to detail, accurate data entry, and reconciliation • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills • Strong knowledge of MS Office and Excel • Proficiency in accounting software – we use a bespoke system • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the finance team • Ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines

Job responsibilities

  • ▪ • Reconciliation of daily sales figures and posting details to the nominal ledger • Accurately posting customer payments to the sales ledger and allocating accordingly • Identifying and rectifying discrepancies • Produce invoice runs • Produce month-end statements • Maintaining existing customer accounts • Conduct and understand credit checks for new customers and open accounts • Conduct credit checks for existing customers to ensure creditworthiness • Resolving account and invoice queries from both customers and internal departments • Contacting customers re overdue accounts to minimise bad debts • Follow guidelines as set out by our Credit Insurers to mitigate bad debt losses • Instruct and consult with existing debt collection Solicitors • Assist with month-end reporting and financial reconciliation • Produce and actively manage debtor list for review with management
